Think of your life like a tree.  The roots and soil represent your emotional foundations, past experiences, and internal patterns and beliefs.  The strength of your root base and the conditions of the soil contribute to your ability to thrive and grow.  The trunk, branches and leaves represent your goals, actions, and life direction.

Counselling focuses on what’s happening beneath the surface that influences how you feel and function. Areas of exploration include emotional distress, understanding patterns in functioning and relationships, processing trauma and grief, managing anxiety, depression, or stress, and improving emotional regulation and relationships.

If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or have unresolved past experiences that bring emotional distress or frequent overwhelm then counselling is the best fit. Relationship challenges, or feeling stuck in repeating patterns are also best supported by counselling.

Counselling strengthens your roots and improves soil conditions so that you can experience growth and thrive. When the roots are supported, the whole tree is strengthened.

Coaching focuses on growth, direction, and forward movement. It can help you clarify goals and direction, generate motivation, create strategies and new habits, support career and life transitions, and provide accountability.  It supports healthy growth and flourishing. If you generally feel stable emotionally, enjoy positive relationships, want clarity and direction, need structure or strategy, or accountability then coaching can support these.

Healthy growth and flourishing involves both.  If you don’t know where to start, counselling can help strengthen your foundations and increase your understanding of what is going on beneath the surface.  With strengthened roots, the focus can shift towards growth and future goals.  Both approaches support change, transformation, and wellbeing. One by going deep beneath the surface, the other by aiming upwards.

In my practice I provide 1-1 counselling support and have chosen to offer coaching in group settings.  With counselling, we can take a deep dive beneath the surface, at your pace, in a safe, supportive space that is yours alone.  The focus in on you and ensuring you receive the individualized support you need to look inside at the things that get in the way of having the thriving life you want.

Group coaching enhances accountability, structure, and goal setting.  Often goals are achieved in collaboration with others and accountability from peers can harness the power of extrinsic motivation when our internal motivation is inhibited.  A group format is more structured as I guide you through different areas of focus that will support your goals.

The collective wisdom of the group is greater than the wisest person in the group.

The benefit of connecting with your peers in a growth oriented coaching & learning group is immense! You will have access to a support network beyond each meeting, and will likely form friendships that endure beyond the work we do together! Group coaching can accelerate growth and momentum, and there’s a creative synergy that can’t otherwise be generated in 1-1 work.

My invitation to you is simple:

Reach out. If you’re struggling, 1-1 counselling can help you reorient and process life’s challenges.  If you want support achieving your goals, email me and ask to be added to my waitlist for group coaching or ask a few trusted friends to join you and set up a consulation appointment.

Whether it’s for counselling or group coaching, I offer at no cost an introductory consultation to help you decide if I am the right guide for you.
